Pat Grills, native Tennessean, graduated from Furman University with a degree in studio art, a master's degree in education and his wife Cathy.  They have been Greenville's own ever since.

Three decades of our children have been inspired by this creative teacher and professional artist.  He has taught advance placement art history in addition to hands on art production and pre-college studio classes at Riverside High.  He currently teaches art in Furman's continuing education program and last year was named SC Teacher of the Year for teachers of non-credit continuing education classes among the state's colleges, universities and technical schools.

Pat currently teaches art in Furman's continuing education program and last year was named SC Teacher of the Year for teachers of non-credit continuing education classes among the state's colleges, universities and technical schools.  Pat and Cathy are also teachers in the university's Bridges to a Brighter Future, what Grills described as a way to help really bright kids with social, economic or language barriers get a college education.

In addition to being an incredible professional artist, Pat weaves his love of history into his art by performing historical characterizations.  He has performed for Chautauqua as Civil War Private Sam Watkins and Hudson River artist Asher Durand, Civil War Soldier Sam Watkins and last year as General Robert E. Lee
